| 内容記述 | The purpose of this article is to review previous literature on psychosocial adjustments of typically developing siblings (TD siblings) of individuals with disabilities and the roles TD siblings play in the family. TD siblings often are at risk for internalizing problems such as depression, anxiety, and so on. Although many studies have examined predicting factors of TD siblings’ psychosocial adjustment, no consistent findings have been obtained. Such inconsistent results may be due to multiple variables not included in individual studies. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the complex and interactive effects of various factors when examining psychosocial adjustment in TD siblings. Recent studies have used a systems approach to comprehensively capture the various factors surrounding TD siblings. In this article, we highlight the roles TD siblings play in the family as a key concept to understand TD siblings within a systems framework. As a result, we showed that TD siblings play diverse roles in the family. It was also suggested that roles within the family may have medium- to long-term effects on the psychosocial adjustment of TD siblings. However, most of the previous studies on TD siblings’ roles in the family were qualitative studies or practice reports. Therefore, the generalizability of the findings remains an issue, and we conclude that future studies need to accumulate empirical studies with larger samples. | |||||||||||||
