| 内容記述 | Supervaluationism tries to solve the problem of vague predicate by introducing the notions of precisification of vague predicate, super true and super false, based on the distinction between admissible precisification and inadmissible ones. Supervaluationism offers an interesting solution to the problem of vague predicate, but it has some counterintuitive features that have been regarded as problematic. One of the counterintuitive feature is the problem of sudden change, that is, the problem of sharp line between admissible and inadmissible precisification. This paper tries to soften, if not eliminate, the conterintuitiveness by introducing a Bayesian element to supervaluationism in the form of ‘plausibility of precisification’; the sudden change between ‘admissible’ and ‘inadmissible’ precisification becames a small change in the plausibility of precisification in this perspective. To overcome the problem of sudden change more radically, the paper adds another maneouver, based on the notions of ‘positive value restriction’ of the plausibility measure and ‘somewhat inaccurate summary report’ (SISR). According this idea, seemingly dichotomous vague predicates simply summarize somewhat inaccurately non-dichotomous state of affair. In the present case, what such dichotomous expression as ‘a person with k hair is bald’ reports the state of affair that the plausibility of that judgement is close to 1 (but never be equal to 1). | |||||||||
