Oxidative reactions of a chiral molecular segment of carbon nanotubes afforded a chiral macrocycle with multiple stereogenic units. The cylinder chirality originally described by a single descriptor of P/M stereoisomerism was transformed into complex chirality, which requires multiple descriptors to specify the absolute configurations. Consequently, the single helical chirality of the nanotube propagated to 12 sets of Rp planar chirality, 6 sets of Sa axial chirality, and 3 sets of E axial geometry. |
