| 内容記述 | In armed conflict, people and other living creatures are killed and maimed by attacks and combat; they are victims. Meanwhile, art and culture also fall victims to armed conflict. For example, buildings of high academic quality in history and anthropology are destroyed and damaged by attacks and combat. Historic and archaeological sites, structures and ruins are exploited for military purposes. Moreover, traditional customs and cultures indigenous to a given area are obliviated and oppressed, and cultural goods and artworks are plundered and requisitioned by occupiers. Faced with this situation, we may ask the following question; ‘is it morally permissible to destruct and damage art and culture in armed conflict’? With the above in mind, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the following the two questions from the perspective of ethics; ‘why cultural property should be protected’, and ‘how it should be protected’, starting from the premise that art and culture should be protected in armed conflict. | |||||||||
