内容記述 This paper examines the changes undergone at university career centers in the United States. To assess what career services are currently required at universities, this research uses previous re search in Japan and the United States, as well as field research at two universities. In Japan, the main duties of career centers are to provide individual counseling, hold workshops related to employment such as resume writing and interview guidance, introduce job vacancies, hold career fairs, and hold events related to career education. The career service staff mainly hold mas ter's degrees in psychology or counseling. In addition to the above responsibilities, US career centers also offer advice on choosing a major, the options available for continuing education such as graduate school or other philanthropic options and thus provides support broader in scope than mere job hunting. Regarding its staff attributes, while a master's degree was still required, there has been a noticeable shift towards the requirement for a wide range of specialist knowledge not limited to psychology or career strategy, as well as to those with practical experience in the workplace. Based on these previous studies, we conducted interviews at the career centers of the University of Washington and The George Washington University. The surveys at the two universities revealed that in the wake of the pandemic, additional duties had been added, such as support using YouTube and other social networking services, as well as the enhancement of online workshops and counsel ing. As for staff credentials, in addition to advanced degrees and work experience in companies, a variety of attributes were considered valuable in creating diversity among the staff; people of color and first-generation students became attractive staff attributes. There was also a strengthening of collaboration between the faculty and the mental health services of the university and community. In addition, in response to the increasing diversification of students, some of whom have limited fund ing, a service for lending out clothes for job interviews was made available. By clarifying the initiatives of career centers at universities in the United States today, we hope to gain insight into the widening roles and further development of university career centers. For uni versities must respond to social change to better address their crucial role of sending students, hav ing gained much ability from their studies and university experience, into the world, not only towards a career, but into the dynamic reality that their society will present to them.
