The procedure of statistical measurement which has been used for a long time in the research field of atmospheric radio noise, has been introduced in studying statistically the electric field intensity change at the atmospheric source. The following four statistical parameters have been obtained from the synchronous analysis of electric field intensity change at the atmospheric source recorded on magnetic tape in observing the atmospherics: (1) The A. P. D. curve follows a log-normal distribution in the probability values ranging from 2 to 0.01 %, and the corresponding dynamic range of voltage variation is about 50 or 60 dB. (2) The C. R. D. curve can be approximated by three straight line sections connected on the log-log graph. Mathematically speaking, the above corresponds to the statement that the C. R. D. curve can be expressed reasonably by the use of three different power functions each with a respective power index. (3) O. T. I. D. represents the time characteristics on the time sequence of the electric field intensity when a constant voltage value is given for the threshold. The time characteristics of the electric field intensity observed at the atmospheric source are derived from the known time characteristics of a number of elementary electric processes, i. e., the stepped leader, return stroke, K change, and so on. An important relation has been found, that is, the shape of C. R. D. of the electric field intensity at the atmospheric source is very similar to that of C. R. D. of the atmospheric radio noise regarding both the curve shapes drawn on the log-log graph. Discussion has been made on the relationship between the statistics of the electric field intensity change at the atmospheric source and that of the atmospheric radio noise, based on the similarity of curve shape of C. R. D.. 内容記述 The electric field intensity change caused by lightning flashes at the atmospheric source was measured in summer, 1969. The procedure of statistical measurement which has been used for a long time in the research field of atmospheric radio noise, has been introduced in studying statistically the electric field intensity change at the atmospheric source.
