Therefore, two questions need to be verified: 1) What kinds of environmental impacts are caused by recycling; 2) From the standing point of environmental conservation, should we promote paper recycling? This research investigates on the case of paper making enterprises in Guangdong province, China. We conducted a quantitative evaluation on environmental impacts of a life-cycle of 1 ton coated white paper board. The life-cycle includes processes of materials acquisition, manufacturing, disposal, recycling and transportation. Then, basing on the result of LCA, we set three scenarios as “non-recycling”, “recycling once” and “recycling multiple times” for simulation analysis. The conclusions are as follows: 1) Under the premise of 40% paper recycling rate, the order of priority to reduction of environmental pollution is: “recycling multiple times”, “recycling once”, “non-recycling”.
