It aims to describe the actual situations of economic and social circumstance, in other word so-called "mature society", in Japan and the role of vocational education (VE) and its way of existence, especially in the relationship with the economic development issue. Already, Japan has faced to such situations as the low economic development, the strong aging (few children) society and the unstable employment for younger generation since 1990's. Traditionally, politicians and researchers have thought the VE as the measure for economic development. But this thinking style and study one let the role of VE disappear when each country has attained the high economic development. Therefore, we have to more positive role of VE in "mature society. It is not only economic role, but also human (younger students') developments and well-beings by VE. We need the positive positioning sustainable vocational competencies within VE. Author abstracted six factor scales concerning vocational competences and verified the positive role of students' studies of usual vocational and specialized curses (substantial knowledge and skills) and system construction, especially for higher vocational education, on the vocational key competencies through author's longitudinal surveys.}, pages = {1--13}, title = {「成熟社会」における職業教育 : 職業教育の研究と政策へのアプローチ}, volume = {21}, year = {2016} }
