This study aims at the therapist-images which are reflected or emerging from the dream-analysis. The author have three purposes in this article. Firstly, through a dream-analysis of the two, male and female, clients who are the same age with the therapist, and who have the \"excellence of lost motherhood\", we clarify the actions and functions of the therapist in dreams at each therapy stages. Secondly, we re-examine the objectivity and the availability or validity of the categories of therapist's function which was reported in the former volume (TABATA, 1983). And thirdly, we also evaluate the quality of psycho-therapeutic relationship and effectiveness or outcome of therapy in relation to the \"self-images\" of each clients. The clients used in this study were these: Case A was a married man who was forty years old at the intake, and the therapy was continued for more than 4 years. And Case B was a married woman who was forty-one years old at the intake, and the therapy was continued for more than 2 years. Both cases were diagnostically \"identity disorder\" which were within the range of psychoneurotic disease. The results were as followings: 1. In Case A, the total dreams were reported forty-six in all, of which the transformed therapist-images were fifteen, and the rate in all dreams was 32.6%. In Case B, the total dreams were reported fifty in all, of which the therapist-images were fourteen, and the rate in all dreams was 28%. 2. Concerning the therapist-images and the transition of functions to each stages, the Case A showed mainly D (function of \"power and force\") from stage I to stage III; B (function of \"motherhood\"), E (function of operator or technician) and C (function of \"discipline or guide\") in stage IV; F (function of \"co-existence or collaboration\") in stage V; and B or H (function of \"soul or religious atmosphere\") in the final stage VI. On the contrary, the Case B showed mostly F and sometimes G (function of \"common sense\") from stage II to stage III; F and B in stage IV; and G and in stage V. (Purpose 1) 3. The reasons of difference with therapist-images in two cases may result from the length of therapy term of sex-matching (i.e. homo-sexual or hetero-sexual pairs). These results, however, must be examined to further research. 4. The former categories of therapist functions were minimumlly modified, so the objectivity and the availability or validity were nearly verified. (Purpose 2) 5. Finally, the Case A was attained fully self-integration, and the Case B had not yet obtained self-integration through the self-images of dreams reported in the dream-analysis. The later case stayed at early or later infatile age. Therefore, it is pointed out that the psychotherapy with the Case B must be continued more further times.
