At Kuwana, the grandparents lived with their grandson, who was two-and-a-half years old when his parents and two-month-old sister were transferred to Kashiwazaki. By 1847, three more children were born at Kashiwazaki. The grandfather at Kuwana and the father at Kashiwazaki kept diaries almost every day for about nine years. This was done to keep the family members living apart informed about one another\u0027s family life and related topics. They occasionally exchanged the diaries. The diaries, totalling about two million hand-written characters, were set in type by Sawashita and Sawashita (1984). The topics of the diaries range widely, and include, for example, family living vocational life; the behavior, development, and illnesses of the children; the weather; occurences of natural disasters and fire; the price of foods, goods, and services; local gossip, and so on. The present article, which deals with the first half of the diaries, analyzes their content with regard to seventeen aspects. These include, (1) rituals and customs related to child-rearing, (2) infant nursing and foods, (3) toilet training, (4) physical care, (5) physical contact, co-sleeping arrangements, attachments, and identification, (6) illness and medical treatment, (7) motor development, (8) play, (9) sociocommunicative development, (10) cognitive development, (11) acquisition of intellectual skills, (12) curiosity about sex, (13) development of self, (14) caretaker-child relations and social network, (15) sibling relations, (16) peer relations, and (17) behavior control strategies. Though the final conclusions will be made in the succeeding article, a few points are made concerning the general characteristics of the child treatment of the family. First, adults were very nurturant and permissive to children and a considerable part of adults\u0027 daily life was devoted to child-centered activities. They were also highly insightful of the developmental process of young children. Second, the major part of children\u0027s time was spent in interacting with adults or children, and the time children spent alone was very limited. Third, children were not hurried by adults in their daily lives and in the future perspectives. Adults provided children with learning opportunities for academic skills in accordance with the emergence of the children\u0027s interest in these activities. Finally, detailed descriptions of child behavior and child treatment in the process of weaning and the changing patterns of co-sleeping suggest the existence of a three-phase transition from the adults\u0027 attempts at behavior regulation to self regulation by the children.", "subitem_description_type": "Abstract"}]}, "item_9_description_5": {"attribute_name": "内容記述", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_description": "国立情報学研究所で電子化したコンテンツを使用している。", "subitem_description_type": "Other"}]}, "item_9_identifier_60": {"attribute_name": "URI", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_identifier_type": "HDL", "subitem_identifier_uri": "http://hdl.handle.net/2237/3713"}]}, "item_9_identifier_registration": {"attribute_name": "ID登録", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_identifier_reg_text": "10.18999/bulfep.33.1", "subitem_identifier_reg_type": "JaLC"}]}, "item_9_publisher_32": {"attribute_name": "出版者", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_publisher": "名古屋大学教育学部"}]}, "item_9_select_15": {"attribute_name": "著者版フラグ", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_select_item": "publisher"}]}, "item_9_source_id_7": {"attribute_name": "ISSN(print)", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_source_identifier": "03874796", "subitem_source_identifier_type": "ISSN"}]}, "item_9_text_14": {"attribute_name": "フォーマット", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_text_value": "application/pdf"}]}, "item_creator": {"attribute_name": "著者", "attribute_type": "creator", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"creatorNames": [{"creatorName": "小嶋, 秀夫"}], "nameIdentifiers": [{"nameIdentifier": "6147", "nameIdentifierScheme": "WEKO"}]}, {"creatorNames": [{"creatorName": "KOJIMA, Hideo"}], "nameIdentifiers": [{"nameIdentifier": "6148", "nameIdentifierScheme": "WEKO"}]}]}, "item_files": {"attribute_name": "ファイル情報", "attribute_type": "file", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"accessrole": "open_date", "date": [{"dateType": "Available", "dateValue": "2018-02-16"}], "displaytype": "detail", "download_preview_message": "", "file_order": 0, "filename": "KJ00000726091.pdf", "filesize": [{"value": "3.0 MB"}], "format": "application/pdf", "future_date_message": "", "is_thumbnail": false, "licensetype": "license_free", "mimetype": "application/pdf", "size": 3000000.0, "url": {"label": "KJ00000726091.pdf", "url": "https://nagoya.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2290/files/KJ00000726091.pdf"}, "version_id": "b8fcdc1e-7144-4f90-8a3a-eb3679d01906"}]}, "item_language": {"attribute_name": "言語", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_language": "jpn"}]}, "item_resource_type": {"attribute_name": "資源タイプ", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"resourcetype": "departmental bulletin paper", "resourceuri": "http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]}, "item_title": "桑名・柏崎日記に現れた児童発達と家族生活(1)", "item_titles": {"attribute_name": "タイトル", "attribute_value_mlt": [{"subitem_title": "桑名・柏崎日記に現れた児童発達と家族生活(1)"}]}, "item_type_id": "9", "owner": "1", "path": ["397"], "permalink_uri": "https://doi.org/10.18999/bulfep.33.1", "pubdate": {"attribute_name": "公開日", "attribute_value": "2006-01-06"}, "publish_date": "2006-01-06", "publish_status": "0", "recid": "2290", "relation": {}, "relation_version_is_last": true, "title": ["桑名・柏崎日記に現れた児童発達と家族生活(1)"], "weko_shared_id": null}
