Many studies have demonstrated its value through analysis of visual works. However, few studies have studied the creative possibilities of the concrete fields in which people watch visual works practically, even though they encourage dialogue and new thinking among spectators. In this study, we examine the nature of dialogues laid in the screenings of a video work, “under the wave, on the ground” (Komori Haruka + Seo Natsumi, 2014), from the perspective of remembering disasters. In particular, we begin by describing an outline of the work and group the ways of displaying it into three categories. Then, we focus on two screenings and discuss singularities observed in the dialogues developed there. Finally, we analyse the structure of the fields, referring to dynamics of the norms and the hypothetical nature of the subject.
