 note = {In the present paper, a new equating method of two latent trait scales, that were separately constructed in the framework of Normal Ogive Model in Item Response Theory, is proposed. This new equating method is a type of anchor items equating methods. It has been proposed several types of anchor items method, but most of them only utilize the estimates of item difficulty parameters on the various latent trait scales for estimating the equating coefficients k and l. In Shiba (1978), the estimates of item discriminating parameters are utilized for estimating the equating coefficient k and the estimates of item difficulty parameters for l respectively. In the new method, the estimates of item discriminating and difficulty parameters are simultaneously utilized for estimating the equating coefficients. The estimates of the equating coefficients k and l can be obtained by Eq. (31), (32), (33) & (35). The validity of the new method is examined by utilizing the estimates of item parameters in the word meaning comprehension test (Shiba, 1978).
