Professor Suzuki contributed immensely to the advancement of geology and related fields by conceiving of the CHIME (chemical Th-U-total Pb isochron method) dating method and putting it to practical use after years of research. CHIME is a dating technique based on the precise electron microprobe analysis of Th, U, and Pb Th- and U-bearing accessory minerals such as monazite and zircon. The method is a non-destructive analytical procedure with high spatial resolution and a unique ability to verify age data obtained. This review presents an overview of the CHIME method and the long-term research path of Professor Suzuki.}, pages = {1--10}, title = {鈴木和博博士を偲ぶ : CHIMEへの長い道のり}, volume = {1}, year = {2017} }
