Kazuhiro Suzuki was the most important member of the Japan Geochronology Network (jGnet), and the main contributor to the development of jGnet. This paper seeks to accomplish two things: first, to introduce the author’s evaluation of the CHIME method conceived by Kazuhiro Suzuki; second, to report on the phengite geochronology of HP-UHP metamorphic rocks the author has been studying for 30 years. Phengite undergoes dynamic recrystallization during the deformation of rocks in the exhumation. Ar is released from the phengite crystals during the process, as documented in the in-situ Ar-Ar dating of phengites with equant shapes included in rigid garnet and of stretched phengites in the matrix. The duration of deformation during the exhumation after the peak metamorphism shows the average values from the peak metamorphism to the deformation ceasing level, making it possible to calculate the exhumation rates. A high exhumation (strain) rate makes a “fast schist” sequence consisting of several units whose boundaries are distinct faults. A low exhumation (strain) rate makes a “slow schist” sequence with a large-scale recumbent fold.}, pages = {11--22}, title = {高圧・超高圧変成岩のフェンジャイト年代学 : 故鈴木和博氏に捧ぐ}, volume = {1}, year = {2017} }
