Although many Japanese dictionaries list a variety of detailed meanings of this verb, little attention has been given to the relationships between them. By investigating example sentences, the author demonstrates that "nomu" has seven different meanings, and confirms the autonomy of each, as well as the prototypical meaning, which is "a human drinks liquid by mouth". The other six meanings derive from the prototype, motivated by metaphor and synecdoche. This paper suggests that combinations of these seven meanings form a polysemic network in which the meanings expand to the domain of “the human mind” from the domain of “the human body”.}, pages = {203--217}, title = {多義語「のむ」の意味分析}, volume = {1}, year = {2018} }
