 note = {The purpose of this paper is to explicate and analyze one of China's current socio-economic development strategies, "Ecological Civilization" (EC), from the viewpoints of "Ecological Modernization " (EM) theories. China has introduced this new development concept into its political ideology since 2007 aiming for a more sustainable development. This phrase is understood in China as a comprehensive political idea concerning environment policy, eco-friendly economy, climate change, energy transformation, and so on. Refereeing to the idea of EM, this paper tries to explain EC in detail and reveal its characteristics. The paper indicates that this idea has developed under the influence of EM and can be recognized as China's acceptance of EM with critical assessment.},
