 note = {本稿は、2004～2018年における名古屋大学高等教育研究センター（以下、名大センターと略）の活動を振り返りつつ、高等教育センター（以下、センターと略）一般に求められる研究活動の性格や特徴、その実施のための基本的条件等について検討する。名大センターは名古屋大学内の共同教育研究組織として独立した組織として活動を行ってきた。学生定員をもたない小規模組織であるがゆえに、存立基盤は脆弱である。2016年からは名大センターとしての活動を継続する傍ら、全学運営支援組織に再編成された。センターの研究活動の性格や特徴は、以下のようにまとめることができる。・センターの運営には多くの矛盾をともなうことが必然である。研究と実践、学術研究と開発研究、共同研究と個人研究、学内ニーズとセンター独自のニーズ、学内ニーズと学外ニーズ等である。・センタースタッフには、研究者・大学教員としてのキャリアの形成とセンターの研究活動への貢献を両立させることが要求される。名大センターでは、実践を重視しつつも、それに特化せず研究活動をも重視する立場から、授業改善支援のための各種ツールの開発を中心に活動を行っている。これを通じて発見した問題を研究課題として設定し論文として発表してきた。・名大センターの研究活動に対する学内理解を得ることが存立条件の一つであり、そのために学内外のニーズの把握とその対応に務め関連する実践も行ってきた。・センター運営をめぐる矛盾を克服・調整するためには、学内各組織との連携・調整とともに、センタースタッフ間の恒常的な協議とそれに基づく研究活動が不可欠である。, This paper examines the current situation and characteristics of research activities of the Center for the Studies of Higher Education (CSHE) at Nagoya University. Since it was founded in 1998, the CSHE has always been in a delicate situation because it had a limited staff population and few students. It sometimes also suffers as a result of changes in the university policies. In 2016, the CSHE was reorganized from being an independent body to a special organization under the control of the President’s office. Characteristics of the CSHE’s activities include the following: 1. Generally speaking, the CSHE often faces contradictions between research and practice, academic research and practical duties, and duties expected by the universities versus duties fixed the by Center’s own needs. 2. The staff has to reconcile research activities for the Center and their own career activities. They also developed tools for enhancing the teaching skills of faculty members as a good way to enhance the quality of education at the university. 3. The CSHE has developed a partnership with faculty members to support their understanding of the Center’s activities and enhance the quality of education.},
