Dubbed the \"Hong Kong Trilogy,\" these path-breaking co-productions not only helped usher co-stars Takarada Akira and Lucilla You Min into international stardom, but also illustrated the promises of cross-cultural industrial practices among Asian film industries. However, the films themselves revealed the undoubtable influence of American cinematic and cultural formulas as well as the desire of the Japanese to establish a hegemonic order in Asia during the height of the Cold War. As a result, the trilogy exorcized Hong Kong as a \"Pearl of the Orient\" (and You Min as a \"Pearl of Hong Kong\") while diluting Japan's war responsibility toward its Asian neighbors. Yet the narratives also represented Cathay's initiatives and desires, as it strove to cleanse the image of Hong Kong by presenting it as a site of \"pure love\" and by representing You Min as a \"modern\" (and at times \"Americanized\") woman. In the end, this popular co-production demonstrates the uneven negotiation of power in East Asia involving Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States. It also reveals the agency of both dominant and subordinate forces that shaped and stratified power relationships.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.18999/juncture.5.14","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_32":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"名古屋大学大学院文学研究科附属「アジアの中の日本文化」研究センター","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"Japanese-in-Asia Cultural Research Center, Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_9_select_15":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_select_item":"publisher"}]},"item_9_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN(print)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"1884-4766","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"open access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"北村, 洋","creatorNameLang":"ja"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"95689","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"KITAMURA, Hiroshi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"95690","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-01-27"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"JunCture5_3.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"655.6 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"JunCture5_3.pdf","objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://nagoya.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/29146/files/JunCture5_3.pdf"},"version_id":"ce769fd5-7819-4026-a2b0-999187185bbc"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Toho Studios","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Cathay Organization","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Orientalism","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Cold War","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Modernity","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"東宝・キャセイの「香港三部作」とアメリカの影","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"東宝・キャセイの「香港三部作」とアメリカの影","subitem_title_language":"ja"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"1","path":["2470"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2020-01-27"},"publish_date":"2020-01-27","publish_status":"0","recid":"29146","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["東宝・キャセイの「香港三部作」とアメリカの影"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-01-16T04:22:18.223776+00:00"}
