It is my hope that young researchers may find this article useful for references for the development of their own studies. The article reviews three periods of my research development; 1) undergraduate and graduate student’s period, 2) the time as a faculty member at Osaka University and Aichi University of Education, and 3) as a faculty member at Nagoya University and the principal of the attached school of Nagoya University. First, I will explain my focus on the study of lower secondary education curriculum during my undergraduate and graduate student years, as it is quite difficult to narrow down the object of study within the field of curriculum studies. Second, I will discuss how and from what perspectives I chose to study curriculum after the decision to focus on curriculum as the object of study was made as a faculty member at both Osaka University and then Aichi University of Education. Regarding this topic, I will refer to three studies conducted: a historical study of curriculum after Meiji era, a comparative study on the curriculums of Germany, the United States, England, and France, and finally, the development of curriculum theory that include methodological lessons based on experimental research. In particular, the details a comparative study on middle schools, conducted overseas, and the development of theories and practices of “integrating learning” created as principal of the attached school of Nagoya University will be discussed as these studies have contributed directly to the current implementation of combined junior and high school systems and the revision of a national course of study. In conclusion, suggestions regarding the most critical issues in the field of curriculum studies today are offered that hope to stimulate further, innovative research for a new generation of scholars.}, pages = {45--57}, title = {カリキュラム研究を志して : 名古屋大学教育学部時代を中心に}, volume = {66}, year = {2020} }
