The paper analyses the “Contrastive Study” in Japanese in order to learn the characteristic of contrastive sentence. At the same time it also analyses the function of contrastive sentence in Chinese. For example, this paper explains the characteristics of word “demo” in the Japanese sentence “yoi imi demo warui imi demo otona ni natta.”. Since there is no equal word for “demo” in Chinese, is necessary also to analyze the characteristics of Chinese contrastive sentence. Based on the function-word studies, there is no research that analyses the use of the Japanese repetitive construction “…demo…demo” in every case and there is no research that compare the Chinese and Japanese ’s Contrastive Study as well. Based on the analysis of some studies regard “demo” (Numata 1986 , Group Jammassy 2001, Iori and others. 2001), the paper suggests that Interrogative word play an important role on the sentence pattern “...demo...demo”. The research shows that the repetitive construction can be categorized in 5 types: “+demo-demo”, “N1 demo N2 demo”, “N demo WH demo”, “WH demo N demo”, “WH demo WH demo”. These categorizations are classified by putting the Interrogative word in a different position in the sentence. This paper also points out that each categorization of Japanese “demo” has a strong connection with some sentence patterns of contrastive word in Chinese (Sentence patterns include conditional sentence, compound sentence, strong negation sentence and so on).}, pages = {33--47}, title = {反復構文の日中対照研究 : 「~デモ~デモ」構文を中心に}, volume = {3}, year = {2020} }
