I tried to find out what he lost amid a series of negative events and how he coped and managed to recover every time. Through an interview with Mr. A and based on an observation record of his participation in health consultations at soup kitchens, while interpreting the experiences and scenarios that he had gone through, I analyzed the reasons or factors that led him to turn around and head in the direction of recovery. He had experienced loss and recovery several times in a relatively short period of one year or so. Due to health reasons, he quit his job and lost the capability to maintain his current lifestyle. In order to get his life back together, he applied for public assistance. He temporarily moved into a public housing facility and placed an expectation on welfare benefits, but because he was not able to get the treatment that he had expected, he left the facility on his own accord. He was prepared to go back to sleeping on the street if not for a man who received public assistance and was kind enough to let him stay at his apartment. However, after that welfare recipient was hospitalized, he left the apartment, found a garage of an empty house, and lived there temporarily. The garage was torn down and cash worth 130 thousand yen and his driver’s license were stolen in a moment, which forced him to sleep outside. Even though he lost everything, he perceived his experiences in a positive light. Despite repeated experiences of loss, he did not let negative feelings drag on and every time he lost, he adapted himself to the situation and headed into the process of recovery. This was attributable to his personal traits, including the ability to take action and adjust his feelings, his social skills, and his positive and optimistic character. Meanwhile, the path that he took was believed to be not only the process of recovery but that of adaptation to homeless life as well.}, pages = {273--289}, title = {喪失体験を繰り返した男性野宿生活者のレジリエンス}, volume = {3}, year = {2020} }
