The construction which has a stable potential meaning stably is called “middle-passive,” which corresponds to the English middle construction. According to the definition of “potential” in Onoe (1998), the most important factors for the potential meaning are the intention or the expectation of the implicit agent and the existence of the condition or the permissibility for the action to be realized. While the middle-passive construction is known as the patient/theme-subject construction, it is also said to describe the subject’s property in the imperfect tense-aspect. In addition, it often takes an adverbial phrase of difficulty. We consider that this adverbial phrase induces the implicature of the agent’s intention to the realization of the action and the property of the subject is construed as the condition for the action that the verb refers to. Moreover, we argue that the passive and impersonal constructions can also have the potential meaning when its tense-aspect is imperfect and additionally, the agent’s intention is implied in the context when it has the place or time phrase that can be construed as the condition.}, pages = {175--195}, title = {スペイン語のse中動態(再帰構文)における可能の意味}, volume = {3}, year = {2020} }
