Twenty-six Fontan patients underwent symptom-limited treadmill cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Two groups of age- and sex- matched subjects served as controls: the biventricularly repaired (Bi, n = 18), and the “true” control (C, n = 29) groups. Peak oxygen uptake (VO2peak) was not different among groups (41.0 +/– 8.4 ml/min/kg, 43.5 +/– 6.6 ml/min/kg, and 45.9 +/– 11.6 ml/min/kg for Fontan, Bi, and C groups, respectively, p = 0.16). Fontan subjects, however, showed steeper alveolar ventilation/carbon-dioxide (VA/VCO2) regression slope (35.5 +/– 5.3, 28.7 +/– 3.8, and 29.5 +/– 3.0 l/ml, for Fontan, Bi, and C groups, respectively, p<0.0001), and lower end-expiratory carbon-dioxide fraction (FetCO2VAT) at ventilatory threshold (VAT) (4.4 +/– 0.5%, 5.5 +/– 0.5%, and 5.5 +/– 0.4%, for Fontan, Bi, and C groups, respectively, p<0.001). The dead-space ventilation fraction at VAT was similar among groups (0.33 +/– 0.06, 0.33 +/– 0.04, 0.35 +/– 0.05 for Fontan, Bi, and C groups, respectively, p = 0.54). In Fontan subjects, arterial oxygen saturation at rest (SaO2rest) was correlated with VA/VCO2 regression slope (r = –0.41, p = 0.04) and with FetCO2VAT (p = –0.53, p<0.01). We conclude that Fontan patients show exercise hyperventilation due to augmented central and/or peripheral ventilatory drive, which is further augmented by residual hypoxemia.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.18999/nagjms.82.2.281","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_32":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine, School of Medicine","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_9_relation_43":{"attribute_name":"関連情報","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_relation_type":"isVersionOf","subitem_relation_type_id":{"subitem_relation_type_id_text":"http://www.med.nagoya-u.ac.jp/medlib/nagoya_j_med_sci/822.html ","subitem_relation_type_select":"URI"}}]},"item_9_rights_12":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International","subitem_rights_language":"en","subitem_rights_resource":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"}]},"item_9_select_15":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_select_item":"publisher"}]},"item_9_source_id_61":{"attribute_name":"ISSN(Online)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"2186-3326","subitem_source_identifier_type":"EISSN"}]},"item_9_source_id_7":{"attribute_name":"ISSN(print)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0027-7622","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"open access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Okamura, Yukiko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"99312","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kito, Machiko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"99313","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yasuda, Kazushi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"99314","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Baba, Reizo","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"99315","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-06-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"12_Okamura.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.3 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_5","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"12_Okamura.pdf","objectType":"fulltext","url":"https://nagoya.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/30091/files/12_Okamura.pdf"},"version_id":"82c99fc5-56bd-4703-b40d-ae87ea6cdc0b"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Fontan","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"exercise tolerance","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"oxygen uptake efficiency slope","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"maximal oxygen uptake","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"ventilatory response","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Contributions of residual hypoxemia to exercise hyperventilation in Fontan patients","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Contributions of residual hypoxemia to exercise hyperventilation in Fontan patients","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["2504"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2020-06-01"},"publish_date":"2020-06-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"30091","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Contributions of residual hypoxemia to exercise hyperventilation in Fontan patients"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-11-16T02:43:16.679009+00:00"}
