A new upwinding parameter is introduced in the calculation of element matrices to resolve the discontinuity and a limiting technique is applied to the derivative of flux to supress numerical oscillations. The adopted technique is used to solve shock tube problems with shock probagation Mach number up to 5. The results are compared with the ones from an upwind TVD explicit scheme and an analytical result.
