Five sustained Japanese oral vowels uttered by four calling subjects were employed as timbre signals by being impressed on the distortion RSD, thereafter to be received and judged by four listening subjects. As a result of subjective judgement we obtained naturalness- and articulation-characteristic in general, and proceeded to study in greater detail both of these fundamental quality-characteristics by considering each individual vowel as well as each individual voice.
