 note = {The yato -landscape, which is one of the traditional agricultural landscapes of Japan, is being lost due to various recent developments and reconversions of an agricultural management. This research, about a yato -landscape in Ichinomiya-cho, Hoi-gun, Aichi-prefecture, were mainly on the basis of field works, old documents, interviews with inhabitants and aerial photographs. The resulting data of the landscape, which had no historical photographs, were shown as visual image pictures in some particular epochs for the landscape. It was clear that the yato -landscape has been strongly influenced by the external pressure, such as the Second World War, reducing policy of the acreage under cultivation of rice, and pine wilting disease. The methods of analysis and expression of the landscapes as visual images was useful to consider such local environments.},
