Smith’s feminist research strategy, which is called “institutional ethnography.” Institutional ethnography is a research strategy that emerged from Smith’s explorations of the problematic of the everyday world. The essential point of Smith’s project is a critique of “objectified knowledges.” Institutional ethnography investigates how our everyday life is shaped by the social organization beyond individual scene of everyday life. First, this paper reviews the key points of Smith’s “sociology from women’s standpoint” and then her understanding of the “everyday world as problematic.” Next, it examines institutional ethnography. In addition, it investigates the procedure of institutional ethnography referring to her description of her own experience as the point d’appui of inquiry. The last section confirms the possibilities of her approach in addressing contemporary society.}, pages = {167--182}, title = {社会的組織化のアクチュアリティ : 「制度のエスノグラフィ」における日常世界の探求}, volume = {30}, year = {2005} }
