The author’s serious and rigid attitudes towards ordinary problems in everyday life are reflected in four of his novels. These motives are regarded as fundamental in his works. 1. The storyline for Carsten Curator was developed during the economic blockade by Napoleon. Here Storm wrote of the unusual trends in society, breaking traditional patriarchal morals and discipline in civic society. His social criticism and attitude towards family values get transparent through a father-son-conflict. 2. In Renate Storm pursues the entrapment of an orthodox bound cleric and a reform minded woman. The author’s criticism is directed towards the 18th century schism between different protestant factions. 3. In Botjer Basch, a cooper’s trade story, Storm concludes his vision of a harmonized ideal community through different generations. 4. In Ein Doppelganger the rehabilitation and resocialization of the title character, who committed a juvenile crime, is highlighted by the memories of his daughter. Beyond the analysis of his literary output, the conflict motives eminent in Storm’s works present his compromises and harmonized solutions in real life situations.}, pages = {79--89}, title = {Untersuchungen zu verschiedenen Konfliktmotiven in Theodor Storms spaten Novelln : auf dem Weg zu einer humanistischen Literatur zum Zweck der Rettung und Heilung von Geist und Seele}, volume = {29}, year = {2005} }
