This paper first summarizes the major contents of the agreement and highlights its features. Then, as main analyses of the paper, a quantitative assessment on its short-run macroeconomic impacts and a brief analytical discussion on the three trade-related issues, namely, the competition and cooperation with the ASEAN countries, effective rate of protection, and exchange rate adjustment, will be given. The study has shown that the transition was basically smooth and the impact on the economy was favorable in general. In particular, the impacts on exports, imports, and FDI were sizable. With the ASEAN countries, the sign of deepening economic interdependence was found together with the competition in the third market. Effective rates of protection remain to be high in a few light manufacturing industries. The exchange rate management has been practical and there is no immediate need for adjustment.}, pages = {1--21}, title = {中国のWTO加盟による短期的影響と貿易をめぐる諸問題}, volume = {24}, year = {2003} }
