Its nucleotide sequence and the deduced amino acid sequence have 84 and 86% homology, respectively, with those of human α4. RT-PCR with nine pairs of primers designed based on reported cDNA sequences α1, α2, α3, α5, β1, β2, β3, γ1 and γ2 showed that β1 and γ1 are only known laminin chains chains expressed in 3T3-L1 adipocytes together with α4. Northern blot analysis showed expression of α4, β1 and γ1 mRNAs at comparable levels.
