This essay argues that the different characters among volunteers' motives in different countries can be explained by their cultural backgrounds, taking Spanish volunteers as a case. According to my questionaire surveys and key informant interviews, Spanish volunteers have a tendency to do voluntary work without thinking that they are doing it, but they just think that they help mutually and enjoy the activities. And they consider that a good relationship among volunteers is quite important for continuing their activities. This inclination toward voluntary activities in Spain, which is rather different from American or Japanese volunteers, can be explained by some social concepts that anthropologists presented as a typical Spanish sense of value. For example, “amiguisumo”means that a friendship is the most important human relationship and the equalitarianism dominates in its society.}, pages = {157--172}, title = {ボランティアの動機と文化的要素-スペインにおける予備的考察-}, volume = {32}, year = {2006} }
