The results indicate that 2 out of the 6 participants had forgotten their previously reported ego-experiences; 1 out of the 6 reported the same ego-experiences as in the first longitudinal study, but had not thought about the meaning of that ego-experience; and another 1, who did not report at the first longitudinal study, reported an ego-experience at the second one. Another 1 out of 2 who had reported ambiguous feelings at the first longitudinal study again reported ambiguous feelings in this study, while the other reported an ego-experience the meaning of which he had not considered. It seems likely that ego experiences can readily be forgotten over a three-year span of time, particularly when there is a developmental shift.
