Isshiki Naotomo was a samurai with literary knowledge. He was as intimate as the aristocrat and priest of Kyō (capital). He yearned for the culture of Kyō and conveyed it to people of Kantō district. However, he did not inherit the culture represented by Genji-monogatari and Ise-monogatari. The culture which he inherited was an encyclopedia represented by Shugai-sho. And the feature and fun of Getsuan-suiseiki are in the secularity, for example. The chapter Danjo-no-uwasa (Man and woman’s rumor) is in the second volume of this essay. This paper clarifies the secularity and transitional character Getsuan-suiseiki by making the chapter Danjo-no-uwasa into a key. The chapter Danjo-no-uwasa consists of six tales. The six tales begin from The letter of 10 aarticle and continue with Tatara-no-nanigashi-no-hanashi and Ihetoji-futari-motaru-otoko-no-hanashi.   The purpose of this paper is to consider three tales from a viewpoint of jealousy. The contents of The letter of 10 aarticle are the same as Kana-kyōkun written to the 16th century. The contents were read by women from the 16th century to the 19th century. It is the textbook which educates women and was called jyokun-syo. By the way and a special preface is added to The letter of 10 aarticle. The preface makes it guess relations between the sendsr of that letter and the receiver. In other words and a aristocrat sent that letter to an acquaintance’s aristocrat’s young woman. That letter was written to the woman who becomes a samurai’s bride. Necessary preparations and precautions are being written in that letter to live in the samurai’s house. For example, how to calm jealousy.   In Tatara-no-nanigashi-no-hanashi, the samurai called Tatara-no-nanigashi had a lover, while working in kyō. He returned to his hometown and a love letter arrived from his lover after a while. Although his wife read the love letter, she was kind to her husband and his lover. Since the samurai’s wife was not jealous, trouble did not take place in his home.  In Ihetoji-futari-motaru-otoko-no-hanashi, a man had a wife and a lover. His wife killed his lover for jealousy. Therefore the man killed his wife. After a while, his wife disguised herself as a snake and tried to kill him. The man climbed Mt.Kōya in order to escape from the snake. He could not return to his hometown, but he lived in Mt. Kōya all the time until he died. His carelessness and foolishness caused the incident. These two tales are an example of a success about married life, and an example of failure.
