The mean stem volume (\u03bd) \u2013 density (\u03c1) trajectories examined in three sample stands gradually approached their own dynamic thinning lines, which have respective slopes of \uff0d1.74, \uff0d1,75 and \uff0d1.70 with increasing stand age. The \u03bd- \u03c1 trajectories were well fitted with Hagihara\u2019s model, so that this model was considered to be suitable for describing the \u03bd-\u03c1 trajectory during the course of self-thinning. The dynamic thinning lines lay below the self-thinning boundary line and they were almost parallel to each
