 note = {This contribution begins with a description of the relationship among economic processes, ecology, and forest production along with a presentation of some basic principles of forestry. The principle of sustained yield in forestry and the efforts toward attaining ecological stability are discussed. A stochastic growth model for even-aged forest stands is presented, in which a stochastic differential equation of Itô-type is used and verified.
