The formula was a mixed curve of the probability density function of the gamma distribution with an exponential function and fitted to the ring width of Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) of 76 years old. It was poor fit at the portion where the pattern of the sequence of ring width differed from the probability density function in the tree top and there was poor fitness at the butt where the ring width increased rapidly in that place.
