The vegetation recovery and the soil reformation were investigated on the about twenty year standing quarry site of Tonohara, Kasugai city, Aichi prefecture, and compared the neighboring forest. Vegetation investigation was conducted on eight plots in the quarry site and two in the neighboring forest. Dominant species of the quarry site were Alnus Sieboldiana in soil-rich site, and Pinus densiflora in steep and soil-poor site. Understory species had been established at site with sufficient environmental conditions.  For the investigation of soil reformation, the depth of surface soil layer and the soil pore were investigated. The surface soil layer (A layer) was not well established on the quarry site. Physical soil properties such as porosity and capillary pore, were found to be lower on the quarry site less than on the neighboring forest. The vegetation recovery on the quarry site sufficiently advanced for about twenty years, but the soil reformation was poor. From the analysis of the vegetation recovery and soil reformation on the quarry site, it was concluded that the soil properties of the quarry site would gradually approach those of the neighboring
