 note = {The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors that influence university tuition fees of each university in Japan. It has been alleged that university tuition fees are closely related to various conditions (the level of difficulty of the entrance examination, the history of the university, the number of students per teacher, the size of the university and so on). However, this has not been rigorously tested using the data. In addition, a number of competing universities were taken into consideration in this paper. I assumed that competition between the universities should have the biggest influence on the determinants of university tuition fees. When I analyzed the data, it was found that the estimation results support the hypothesis.},
