The present study firstly examines the area's basic economic environment and identifies the advantages and disadvantage for further industrial development. Secondly, it looks into the inter-firm relations between the foreign-affiliated firms and local firms in the selected cities of the Bohai coastal area by way of interview surveys to the managers. The survey found that the linkage is becoming in the electronic industry for the domestic market, but still to be developed both in the electronics industry for export market and in the automobile industry for the domestic markets.
