A series of such analyses is called Rational Choice Theory. There are many studies in disciplines like political science, sociology and anthropology. Political science and sociology especially have vast academic accumulations and it is becoming a more important approach when investigating their own areas of study. J.Hirshleifer and G.J.Stigler explained this situation as economic emphasized a different aspect of Rational Choice Theory that had to do with traditional action theories by M.Weber and T.Parsons on the other hand. Instead of these understandings, this paper shows Rational Choice Theory was originally an imported theory of a microeconomic approach established in the 1930s in economics, and has changed until the early 90s because of new institutionalism that happened in the 70s. The situation around Rational Choice Theory of today in social science made it compromise with new institutionalism methodologically, and most importantly it is not like economic imperialism, but various economic approaches accommodating each discipline.}, pages = {55--66}, title = {Rational Choice Theory in Political Science and Sociology as a Microeconomic Approach: a Historical Perspective}, volume = {56}, year = {2008} }
