We apply a Bayesian approach using Markov Chain Monte Carlo to measuring efficiency of the Solid Waste Management in Japan. This approach allows to specify a more flexible distribution of technical efficiency than one-dimensional distribution normally employed by the conventional maximum likelihood approach. The results are compared to those obtained by the conventional maximum likelihood method. We show that the Bayesian approach gives plausible measurements.
