Through the descriptive contents of these literary works, the similarities and differences in the consciousness of them are clarified. Both Livingstone and Cook were the professional explorers and exploration writers, and their social contributions remained influential in the subsequent centuries. Livingstone had, however, showed a clearer sympathy and a sense of the responsibility than Cook toward the residents of the region he visited.
