内容記述 | This paper examines the determinants of dropout and uptake rates of newly introduced crop, which is highly-yielding but more subject to crop failure and labor intensive than subsistence crops. New Rice for Africa (NERICA) was introduced in Uganda as one of poverty alleviation programs by providing potential cash crops to rural households. Within 2 years, the early adopters stopped growing NERICA, while the others started growing it. It is found that the adoption and dropout of NERICA rice variety is determined by opportunity costs and risk faced by households. | |||||
