The initiator of the Noma family was Ryuki Noma, who attended to the first lord of Owari clan, Yoshinao Tokugwa. The Noma family made excellent herbal medicines such as usaienn, sisetsu, yousetsu, and made contributions to medical care in the Owari domain. Dr. Douan Noma educated the lower class samurai of the Owari domain about loyalty and filial piety at the Chukoudo at the end of Edo period. Ryukan Noma, who belonged to one of the branch families of the Noma clan studied ancient Japanese thought and culture as a disciple of Shigeoka Uematsu, the professor at Meirindou in the Owari domain. There is no evidence showing the familial relationship between the physician Noma family in the Owari domain and the Iemon Noma family, to whose village belonged to the mother of Keisuke Ito, the first famous doctor of science in Japan.}, pages = {85--90}, title = {尾張藩御医師野間家の周辺調査について}, volume = {6}, year = {2008} }
