The Cenozoic alkali olivine basalt sample from western Kyushu, Japan, which is the host basalt of the secondary REE carbonate mineral of kimuraite, also indicates an obvious concave tetrad effect in its chonchite-normalized REE pattern. When the alkali olivine basalt sample is normalized by another alkali olivine basalt sample (JB-1) belonging to the same volcanic suite, there can be seen a concave tetrad effect again, suggesting a tetrad phenomenon involved in the Cenozoic mafic volcanic activity in western Kyushu. The REE patterns for MORB and the alkali olivine basalt normalized by CI chondrite or JB-1 can be fitted to the theoretical equation for tetrad effects (Kawabe, 1992) with or without correcting certain \"irregularities\" in La and Ce. The chondrite-normalized REE patterns for MORB and the alkali olivine basalt become more concordant with their tetrad effect variations, when the CI chondritic Tb, Ho and Tm abundances by Anders and Grevesse (1989) are corrected to slightly smaller values by -4, -5, and -3%, respectively. This is compatible with the latest REE analyses of meteoritic, lunar, and terrestrial samples by ICP-MS. The theoretical equation can fit the chondrite-normalized REE patterns for MORB and the alkali olivine basalt, although empirical corrections for La and Ce are sometimes necessary. 内容記述 | Our REE data for a Pacific MORB sample by ICP-AES and recently reported REE data by ICP-MS for MORB from Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans strongly suggest that MORB show small concave tetrad effects in their chondtite-normalized REE patterns irrespective of normal and enriched types. The Cenozoic alkali olivine basalt sample from western Kyushu, Japan, which is the host basalt of the secondary REE carbonate mineral of kimuraite, also indicates an obvious concave tetrad effect in its chonchite-normalized REE pattern.
