"この講義は，主にドイツ製のボードゲームやカードゲームを題材として，受講生同士がゲームを紹介しあい遊びながら，考えることの楽しさを味わってもらうことを目的としています．ルールを読み，理解し，仲間に説明し，プレイし（勝ったり負けたりし），戦略を考え，討論してと，盛りだくさんです．他大学でもごく一部で囲碁，あるいは将棋を題材にした授業を行っているところがありますが，本講義の場合，海外の未知なゲームを扱う場合が多いので，受講生がまったく知識のないところから平等にスタートすることができ，また，外国の文化を楽しむこともできます．ボードゲーム先進国のドイツでは毎年数百の新作が発表され，ゲームのメカニズムは毎年，洗練され，工夫されてきています．テーマ的にも思いつく限りのことをカバーしているといっても過言ではありません．この講義では20種類程度のゲームに親しむだけですが．  大きなことをここで少しだけ言わせてもらうと，（特に日本の）現代社会が直面する問題の根底には，人と人のインタラクション（相互作用）に関わる想像力の欠如があるのではないかと以前から考えています（ちなみに，人間関係に限らない様々なインタラクションから創発する現象を計算機を使って調べるのが私の専門です）．ドイツのボードゲームは基本的に人と人とのインタラクションを楽しむものです．プレイすることによって，インタラクションに関わる想像力をトレーニングする効果もあるでしょう．その意味からも，大学生に限らず，もっと広い場面で，ドイツのボードゲームの楽しみを知ってほしいと思っています．",
