| 内容記述 | Lionel Robbins (1898-1984) has been known as the person who excluded valuations from economics, with his negative argument about Interpersonal Comparison of Utility. Furthermore, in terms of his idea of rationality that means Consistency of Choice, Robbins's economic methodology has been considered as a method of value-free economics or Pure Economics. However, such a view failed to reflect his "ultimate valuation" and his idea of rationality that means "Purposive" in An Essay on The Nature and Significance of Economic Science. This paper indicates these two points. First, in his Essay, Robbins says that Economics depends on "ultimate valuation" which is his valuation that rationality and ability to choose with knowledge is desirable. This point of view shows that his Economics is not value-free economics. Second, his rationality of "Purposive" is a broader idea of rationality than Consistency of Choice. For this reason, his Economic methodology can deal with broader range of personal behavior as rational behavior beyond the assumption of Homo-Economicus. In conclusion, this paper explains the coherence of Robbins's Economic methodology. | |||||
