| 内容記述 | Successive investigations at Akoris and nearby quarry in Middle Egypt have yielded archaeological data of great value regarding the changing rural condition under the Ptolemaic rule. The excavations at the northernmost area in the late 1990s made it clear that this politically insignificant settlement had close economic relationship with the metropolis of Alexandria through the shipment of local architectural limestone blocks. Furthermore, the investigations at a huge limestone quarry near New Minya, formerly called Zawiet Sultan, have provided important insights into the organization of the quarrying activities as well as the identity of the workmen. | |||||
