There are a lot of studies that aimed at ego strength or ego function as the baseline of psychotherapy. However, there have been very few studies about how ordinary adolescents develop their ego strength or ego function. And it is necessary to identify the factors that lead to ego development. In order to attempt to suggest about model, this paper consisted of 5 sections. First, ego strength and ego function on adolescence were discussed. Second, an interpretation of Blos(1962)\u0027s theoretical notions of ego development was presented. Then the limitation and possibility of this theory were discussed. Third, research about crisis was discussed as a factor of fostered ego strength. Few systematic researches have been done for the positive meaning of crisis, though various authors assert that crisis has both positive and negative meaning. Forth, research about stress was discussed as a factor of spur ego development. In this area, the impact of life events has been shown to be a negative influential factor in a maladjusted reaction. But stress has also both meanings. So positive meaning of stress on ego development was discussed. Fifth, from these theoretical viewpoints, necessity of the framework of ego development related positive meaning of stress was suggested. And the possibility of suggesting model was explored. Finally, the future tasks are discussed. Especially, what factors included in stress process may contribute to ego development will be clarified. 内容記述 The purpose of this paper was to suggest about necessity of new framework of ego development related positive meaning of stress on adolescence, by reviewing related literature in various areas of study.
