Both the significance of the curriculum and the achievement of students are attracting public attention. The present study explains the role of writing programs in higher education curriculum focused on transitional education to college. Many universities provide some type of writing education program, often as first year courses. However, universities must have individual educational goals as institutions of higher education. The major findings include the following; 1) readiness for college or university level writing is the most consistent factor at the time students finish high school; and 2) writing programs in upper secondary school figure strongly. Universities must have their own educational goals as institutions of higher education. Therefore, writing programs must be an integral part of university education curriculum. 内容記述 大学教育の実質化が声高に謳われ、カリキュラムの妥当性と学生の学修成果が厳しく問われるようになってきている。このような現状認識に基づき、本稿では、大学におけるライティング教育に関する体系的なカリキュラム構築の課題を、特に高大接続という観点から明らかにし、そのあり方を論ずる。今日、相当数の大学がライティング教育に取り組んでいる。多くの場合、それは初年次教育の一環として行われている。こうした取り組みは、大学での学びの基盤形成のためには有効である。しかし、学士に求められる学修成果を挙げるには、初年次教育のみではなく、その後も継続した取り組みが必要である。さらに、それらが体系的なカリキュラムに基づいて行われることも重要である。大学におけるライティング教育を体系的に行うには、学生の高校卒業時点でのライティングに関するレディネスと高校のライティング教育の実態との正確な把握が必要である。それにより、大学における体系的なカリキュラムモデルの構築が可能になる。In Japan, the quality of university education has become increasingly important.
